Gapton Hall Roundabout to Acle New Road Roundabout, in both directions

I write to inform you that we’ll be carrying out essential work to install new safety barriers along the A47 at the above location, as well as installing a staircase next to the A47 at Breydon Bridge.

We plan to complete this work for five nights from Monday 14 December to Friday 18 December, on weeknights only, working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.

We have closely liaised with the local authority to agree the most suitable diversion route as detailed below.

Diversion route

Northbound traffic will be diverted via the A143 and the A146 before re-joining the A47 at the Norwich Southern Bypass and exiting at the A47/Acle New Road roundabout.

Southbound traffic will follow the above diversion but in reverse.

Westbound between Junction 21 Brampton and Junction 13 Thrapston

Preliminary work on the A14 westbound between junction 21 and junction 13. This work is in preparation for drainage renewals works scheduled to begin in January 2021.

We plan to complete this work for five nights from Monday 7 December to Friday 11 December, weeknights only, working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.

Whilst the road will remain open, there will be lane closures on the A14 between junction 21, Brampton to junction 13, Thrapston to safely deliver this work.

A141 westbound at Brampton: resurfacing

Latest information from Highways England

Resurfacing work westbound on the A141 at Brampton. We plan to complete this work over three nights from Wednesday 9 December to Friday 11 December, working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.

To deliver this work safely, we will need to close the A141 westbound between the B1514 / Brampton and Huntingdon Racecourse, including the westbound entry slip at this location to the A1 Brampton Hut Interchange, for three nights, starting on Wednesday 9 December to Friday 11 December.

Westbound traffic will be diverted from the A141 at the Spittals Interchange to join the A1307, along the B1043, and onto the A1 southbound, to re-join the A14 at the Brampton Hut Interchange.

Further work will be carried out in January, on the A14, between junctions 20 and 13.

M11 junction 8 Birchanger Roundabout: lighting renewal

 

Information from Highways England

We plan to complete this work over fifteen weeks from Monday 14 December to Thursday 15 April, working between the hours of 8pm and 6am on weeknights, subject to weather conditions.

We will be stopping all works on our network for the Christmas period from Friday 18 December to Monday 4 January, works will continue after this period.

The majority of this work will be carried out under lane closures however, full carriageway closures will be required for a few shifts to complete this work. Due to the extensive amount of work taking place, we have split the carriageway closures into five phases. Details of each phase are listed below:

Diversion routes

From Monday 14 December to Thursday 15 of April, we will be carrying out works on Birchanger Roundabout which will require lane closures and temporary traffic lights. We will not be completely closing the roundabout so traffic will be able to travel through here however, please expect some disruption.

Phase 1: M11 junction 8 Birchanger Roundabout, southbound exit slip closure on Friday 5 February (one night)

Southbound traffic will continue on the M11 to junction 7 to turn around and exit the M11 using the junction 8 northbound exit slip road (Diagram 1)

Phase 2: M11 junction 8 Birchanger Roundabout, southbound entry slip closure on Friday 19 February (one night)

Traffic will be diverted onto the A120 to join the M11 southbound from Priory Wood Roundabout (Diagram 2)

Phase 3: M11 junction 8 Birchanger Roundabout, northbound exit slip closure on Monday 22 February (one night)

Traffic will be diverted off the M11 onto the A120 at Priory Wood Roundabout to join Birchanger Roundabout to continue their journey (Diagram 2)

Phase 4: M11 junction 8 Birchanger Roundabout, northbound entry slip closure on Friday 5 March (one night)

Traffic will be diverted on the M11 southbound to junction 7 to turn around and join the M11 northbound (Diagram 1)

Phase 5: M11 junction 8 in both directions, on Monday 15 March and Thursday 18 March (two nights)

Traffic will be diverted off the M11 via the junction 8 exit slip roads to travel over Birchanger Roundabout and re-join the M11 from the entry slip roads, in both directions. (Diagram 3)

We will also be carrying out further resurfacing in the area in the new year and will notify you of these works in due course.
